Description

Flambé calls itself a “Continental Cuisine ‘N’ Sizzling Steak” restaurant, but it is much more than that. It also serves Thai and Indian food! We decided to celebrate President’s Day with a late lunch at this popular local destination. There’s as much to like about this place as there is to dislike. On the plus side, the food isn’t bad and the portions are generous. There are complimentary dinner rolls and and garlic toasts to tide you over during the interminable wait for your food to arrive. Whoops, that was on the minus side. The rooms are bright and cheery and there looks to be a very good buffet available for under seven dollars. The wait-staff is eager and attempting to please. Unfortunately, the actual service; the cleanliness of the windows, walls and table linens; as well as the cost/benefit analysis of the food offerings, all fall short. Bypassing the 30 dollar imported steak items and the lobster bisque, we settled on the pad thai, dal and garlic naan. The pad thai, which was recently mentioned favorably by Banglavision TV’s roaming food critic, Ami Khabarkhelam, was the high point of the meal. The dal and naan were both good enough. There was also some left over to take home. As I mentioned earlier, this was not a cheap meal. Adding in a large bottle of water and a cup of tea, the total tab for two for lunch, including VAT and service charge, was $11.39. lk
